The student body is similar to an apprenticeship, in which bar graduates build on what they learned during the BPTC or equivalent by combining it with practical work experience in a number of bar associations or a student training organization. Walker said, ”It is often desirable that a candidate has completed a mini-student with the rooms they are applying for, as this can give them real insight into the types of cases, limbs and atmosphere in the rooms.” A number of rooms have also postponed their mini-student program. These include Brick Court, Fountain Court, One Essex Court, 3VB and 7KBW. However, Blackstone Chambers allows students to complete mini-body students remotely. Students are divided into two different phases. The ”first six” include the observation of the student`s supervisor at the court and conference and assistance with related formalities. You can be the brain of an advocate, but if you haven`t gotten the highest grades (or, if you`re still studying, you`re not on the right track), you`re unlikely to be asked to show off your persuasion skills. In addition, the professional associations of the bar associations have created detailed checklists to be dealt with during the students. At the end of each semester, your student supervisor must certify that you have satisfactorily covered all the items on the list. Your student body will help you solidify everything you`ve learned during your professional component and gain other skills along the way. However, the most important part of the student body is when students find out if they have a rental. This decision may be based on a supervisor`s evaluation of the student`s work or may include formal advocacy exercises. Some rooms accept more students than they have rentals, so not all students can be taken care of. Check the policy of each room. The minimum price for the number of students is £18,866 per year for London-based students and £16,322 for students outside London, and it is increased each year based on the amount of the living wage. In some sets, this will range from £60,000 to £80,000 in commercial rooms in London. Some bars also offer to financially support your diploma as a professional component (this is called a ”levy”). Note that the general perception that all lawyers are getting into it is completely unattainable. There is no doubt that the best commercial packages are very well paid: many offer student bonuses equivalent to NQ salaries in large urban companies, and students who get a rental on such sets can quickly surpass their fellow lawyers on revenue sharing. Some commercial bar stars make well over a million a year, and a junior baby on a large advertising set can earn £100,000 in their first year. The Bar Standards Board (BSB) said: ”While recognising the challenging times faced by Accredited Education and Training Organisations (AOOs), we encourage them to do everything in their power to ensure that the number of students continues throughout this period.” Squatting is the practice of staying in rooms after the student body, but not as a tenant.
Unlike the third six students, squatters are responsible for themselves and not under the wing of a student supervisor – for example, they must have their own insurance. .
